September 2026 Benefit Payments: CPP, OAS, CCB and Other Payment Dates

September 2026 includes several important federal and provincial benefit payment dates for Canadians. Payments scheduled during the month include the Canada Disability Benefit, Canada Child Benefit, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security and the Ontario Trillium Benefit.

The exact payment you receive will depend on your eligibility, province or territory, income, family situation and the benefit programs for which you have been approved.

September 2026 Benefit Payment Dates

These are the scheduled issue dates published by the Government of Canada. Direct deposits may appear on the scheduled date, while mailed cheques can take additional time to arrive.

Ontario Trillium Benefit: September 10, 2026

The Ontario Trillium Benefit payment for September is scheduled for September 10, 2026.

The Ontario Trillium Benefit combines the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, the Northern Ontario Energy Credit and the Ontario Sales Tax Credit. Eligibility and payment amounts depend on the information provided in your income tax return.

Some recipients receive monthly Ontario Trillium Benefit payments, while people with smaller annual entitlements may receive their benefit as a single payment instead.

Canada Disability Benefit: September 17, 2026

The Canada Disability Benefit payment for September is scheduled for September 17, 2026.

The Canada Disability Benefit provides monthly financial assistance to eligible working-age Canadians with disabilities. Receiving the Disability Tax Credit does not necessarily mean that the benefit will be deposited automatically, as applicants must also meet the program requirements and complete the required application process.

Payment amounts can vary depending on the recipient’s income, family income and personal circumstances.

Canada Child Benefit: September 18, 2026

The Canada Child Benefit payment for September is scheduled for September 18, 2026.

The Canada Child Benefit is a tax-free monthly payment for eligible families raising children under 18. Payment amounts are calculated using factors such as adjusted family net income, the number of eligible children and their ages.

The September payment forms part of the July 2026 to June 2027 benefit period and is generally calculated using information from the family’s 2025 income tax returns.

CPP Payment Date: September 25, 2026

Canada Pension Plan payments are scheduled for September 25, 2026.

This payment date applies to several CPP programs, including the CPP retirement pension, CPP disability benefits, survivor’s pensions and eligible children’s benefits.

The amount each recipient receives depends on the benefit, their contribution history, the age at which they started receiving CPP and their individual circumstances.

OAS and GIS Payment Date: September 25, 2026

Old Age Security payments are also scheduled for September 25, 2026.

The same payment date generally applies to the Old Age Security pension, Guaranteed Income Supplement, Allowance and Allowance for the Survivor.

Although these benefits may arrive together, they have different eligibility requirements. OAS is primarily based on age and Canadian residency, while income-tested benefits such as GIS depend on the recipient’s annual income and marital status.

Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit

The Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit payment for September is scheduled for September 25, 2026.

This provincial benefit is administered through the Canada Revenue Agency and is intended to provide additional support to eligible residents with disabilities.

Eligibility and payment amounts depend on the provincial program rules and the recipient’s tax information.

Veteran Disability Pension: September 28, 2026

The Veteran Disability Pension payment for September is scheduled for September 28, 2026.

Veterans Affairs Canada provides disability benefits to eligible veterans, Canadian Armed Forces members, former RCMP members and certain qualifying survivors or dependants.

Are There GST/HST or Grocery Benefit Payments in September?

There is no regular Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payment scheduled for September 2026.

The former GST/HST Credit was replaced by the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit in July 2026. The remaining quarterly payments for 2026 are issued under the new benefit name.

The previous payment was issued on July 3, 2026, and the next Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payment is scheduled for October 5, 2026.

Is There an Advanced Canada Workers Benefit Payment in September?

No Advanced Canada Workers Benefit payment is scheduled for September 2026.

The Advanced Canada Workers Benefit is paid three times during 2026. The scheduled payment dates are January 12, July 10 and October 9.

Eligible workers should therefore expect the next scheduled ACWB payment on October 9, 2026.

Employment Insurance Payments in September

Employment Insurance does not have one universal monthly payment date that applies to every recipient.

EI payments are generally issued according to each claimant’s reporting schedule. Eligible claimants normally need to submit their required reports before a payment can be processed.

The date on which an EI payment arrives can therefore vary from one recipient to another. Processing delays, missing reports or requests for additional information may also affect the deposit date.

What to Do If Your September Payment Is Missing

A payment may not appear immediately for several reasons. Processing times can differ depending on whether you receive payments by direct deposit or mailed cheque.

• Confirm that the scheduled payment date has passed.
• Check your bank account and recent transactions.
• Sign in to your CRA account or My Service Canada Account.
• Verify that your address and direct deposit information are current.
• Check whether the government requested additional information.
• Allow the recommended number of business days before contacting the responsible department.

The CRA generally recommends waiting five working days for Canada Child Benefit payments and ten working days for certain other CRA-administered benefits. Mailed payments may require additional delivery time.

Direct Deposit for Government Benefits

Direct deposit is generally the fastest and most reliable way to receive federal benefit payments.

CRA-administered payments can be managed through your CRA account. Payments administered by Service Canada, including CPP, OAS and the Canada Disability Benefit, may require updates through My Service Canada Account or the appropriate Service Canada process.

Always verify that your banking information belongs to an active account before submitting a direct deposit change.
